Daytona USA 2:
Battle on the Edge

Publisher: Sega
Developer: AM2
Genre: 3D Racing
Release: Unkown

The sequel to one of the most successful and loved arcade racers is sure to be making its way to your home on the Dreamcast. AM2 has taken the Model 3: step 2 arcade board to even greater levels of graphical achievement while retaining the same fun gameplay that Daytona is noted for.

The car models are some of the best seen in any racer to date with realistic damage, skid marks and smoke from burning rubber. The 3 tracks are extremely detailed and varied, from the standard stadium track with extremely detailed crowds to a desert and a very detailed city. Variety seems to be the key word here. The "Three-Seven Speedway" track (the oval track) is still present from the original, but now the track is set within a glass dome and there are now waterfalls and other scenic changes. Small elements have been enhanced graphically like the pit stops and spectacular crashes. There is also supposed to be a new racing view from the eyes of the driver, and you can even look back over your shoulder.

Daytona 2 is a racing game fan's dream with deep yet fun gameplay that keeps you coming back for more. Expect it to be one of the early Dreamcast titles and to impress even the most jaded of gamers. If they could only fit the entire cabinet into each package, it would be perfect.
