Genre: 3D Platformer
The original Rayman title was probably the best 2D platformer released for the 32-bit systems. It managed to take graphical detail to a whole new level for 2D games. The control was right, the music was gorgeous, and there were enough colors to be blinding.
In comes Rayman 2. Ubisoft decided to go the 3D route this time, and it looks to be a great choice. As you can tell from the pictures to the right (which are taken from the PC or N64 versions of the game), they managed to retain the bright, colorful, cartoony feel of the game while bringing it into 3D. You can expect the Dreamcast version to look even more spectacular.
Only one question remains. Have they managed to keep the playability? That, we don't really know as of yet. Most games that have been transferred from 2D to 3D have lost their "feel". It's just hard to capture it in a 3D environment. So we'll have to wait and see if Ubisoft has found a way to cross that barrier.
